Introduction

The Department of Visual Communication Design in Shu-Te University was founded in 1998, the first visual design department in southern Taiwan.  An on-the-job Master’s program was established in 2011.  The running of the department and graduate school is based on the educational philosophy of the school and to bear the school motto “academics, knowledgeable, happy, hope.”  To cultivate the professional, talented person with both humanity and technology, and organizational & leading, and the issue-resolving.  And to ensure the balanced development to the implementation of design philosophy and practice.  To cultivate the high-layer talented people as the goal with creativities of Visual Communication and the execution based on the planning.  To correspond to the demand of the industries, the department develops the core competencies of the base curriculum based on the development of professionals and the trend of future employment.  Four major modules are developed, and the four-year for the student to pick up the four working capabilities in the design industry.
